Everyone Is Saying the Same Thing About 'The Idol' and Jennie
As episode one finally made its way onto our screens.
Ever since The Idol was first announced back in 2021, all eyes have been on Abel Tesfaye and Sam Levinson to see what The Weeknd and Euphoria‘s creator would conjure up. Well, the results are in because episode one of HBO’s highly-anticipated series made its debut on June 4, and as expected — the internet has a lot to say about it.
jennie random things @randomjenniekim BLACKPINK star plus Euphoria creator plus next-gen it-girl sounded like a recipe for success, but pretty quickly, allegations of misconduct on set began to surface and critics’ interest in the series waned. Furthered by a Everyone Is Saying the Same Thing About 'The Idol' and Jennie last month, the intrigue surrounding the show lessened, with first impressions dubbing it “sleazy,” “misogynistic” and “shameful.”
Ok, so THE IDOL isn’t good but I do think the Cannes reviews overstated the provocativeness a bit. There’s a good show somewhere in there, Sam Levinson just didn’t want to make that show.

Now, the episode has made its way onto HBO for all to see, and fans’ reactions seem to range all the way from being undeniably hooked to completely and utterly disappointed. That said, amidst all the rollercoaster reviews, one thing appears to be unanimous: BLACKPINK’s Jennie The Brazilian supermodel takes the Miami coast make her acting debut for The Idol, and clearly — it was the right decision.
