Stepping Up: Represent Offers Up Its First Women's Sneaker

If you’ve been sleeping on Represent’s footwear offering so far, then now is the time to sit up and pay attention. Not just content with taking over the streetwear scene, the Manchester-based imprint has fully set its sights on the sneakersphere too, and has been pumping out luxe street-style staples over the past few months.

While the brand has always offered smaller sized-options, its latest release takes things a step further with the launch of its very first sneaker developed especially for women. While most brands are happy enough to ‘shrink and pink’ a shoe, Represent has left no stone unturned here, fully reworking the Reptor Low to cater to the form of women’s footwear sizing.

Arriving in women’s-friendly versions of two existing colourways (“Flat White” and “Black/Vintage White”) the shoe is also set to drop in two new variations. For those who love a pastel sneaker, “Rose Dawn” is the perfect blush-toned hue, whereas the “Mushroom/Black” colourway will satisfy those who prefer a more neutral-toned palette. As expected, the pairs come crafted from the highest quality materials and are handcrafted in Portugal - exactly what you’d expect from Represent.

Speaking on the launch, and on opening up more of a women’s offering, founder and Creative Director George Heaton said:

“Historically we’ve always focused on the menswear market, but over the past few years we’ve seen an influx in the demand for womenswear, especially for our jersey pieces and footwear. For clothing, we could be super reactive to this demand. In January this year we expanded our smaller sizes to XXS for our most iconic collection, The Owners’ Club, affording more appropriate sizing options for women. It is clear that the female market has an interest in our product, so aligning to this need was an easy transition for the brand. With footwear, the process has been much longer. For our first women’s shoe collection, we wanted it perfect. This meant redesigning the men’s footwear completely to fit the naturally slimmer shape of the female foot. It’s been a long process, but anything worth doing is worth doing right.”
