There’s been no shortage of vintage releases from adidas in recent weeks. The adidas SPZL range launched with the ‘Manchester’ silhouette selling out in seconds. We also had that city inspired pack and the iconic clothing collection which arrived alongside it. It seems we’re heading back to the old school once again as the adidas Originals Archive Athen is now confirmed.
A direct replica of a shoe that’s been sat in the archives for decades, the ‘Athen’ is a blue and white Goes to the Greek flag. In 1967, it went by the name ‘Jaguar’ but later changed to ‘Athen’ as more city themed releases gained prominence.
First launched as a celebration of the Olympic pharrells, Athens being the birth place of this event, this silhouette is a premium crafted edition. Soft suede hits the upper and is met with white coloured three stripe branding to the sidewall. Other areas contrast such as the heel overlay and lace surround. To complete the look,a gum coloured outsole sits underfoot. It’s one last touch of vintage which reminds us of the rich legacy of this one-of a-kind-design.
The adidas Originals Archive Athen is scheduled to release on Friday 21st October via the retailers listed.
