Did you know that Ronnie Fieg, founder of fashion brand Kith, gave the New Balance 2002 high praise in 2002 when it first came out? “The midsole is stacked with a better suspension system than most of your cars,” Fieg said. Despite this positive review, though, the shoe remained niche. It was revamped as the 2002R in 2020 with the help of then product line manager Tetsuya Shono. This time, it was a success worldwide. Get ready for the one of the silhouette’s latest drops, the New Balance 2002R “Castlerock Grey Black”.
This 2002R has an all-grey upper made from different materials. The collar underlay is mesh whilst the rest of the overlays are suede. The toe box and heel counter are perforated. The “N” logos on both the medial and lateral side walls are grey with double outlines in white and grey, respectively. The NB branding on the heel tabs, though, are red. A black and grey midsole with ABZORB and N-ergy tech and a grey rubber outsole finish off the entire ensemble.
