New Balance Opp Core Small Heuptasje Rainier Boot can be traced back to 1975 thanks to the innovative thinking of mountaineering royalty, Lou Whittaker. The last time we saw the New Balance-made boot was in 2016 when a Remastered version that saw the addition of full-grain ms327jc1 and a GORE-TEX liner hit the shelves. While the Rainier boot is set for a tasteful collaboration with Aimé Leon Dore, the general release colourways such as this “Raincloud” pair are certainly worth getting excited for.
Unlike the 2016 and vintage release of the Rainier, a hairy suede has been introduced to replace the full-grain ms327jc1 panels. What does remain the same however, is the rip-stop canvas that is located on the toe box, tongue and underlay portions of the upper. Branding is low-key on this release with an embroidered “NB” logo hiding within the suede goldmunsell and a simple label on the tongue. The metal boot eyestays feature a loop system that is kept locked down via two-tone rope laces, a small change from the flat laces found on the original pairs. Rounding off the boot aesthetic behind the New Balance Rainier is the Vibram sole below, the tread full of an aggressive lug depth to ensure enough traction is available.
If you’ve worn through your 2016 Remastered pair or need a strong boot to get you through the harsher months, then the New Balance Rainier in this “Raincloud” colourway is a strong option for you. Check out JuzsportsShops for any further updates regarding this release.
