Solemates: The Best Valentine's Day Sneakers of All Time

Along with Christmas and Halloween, Valentine's Day is another event that inspires the sneaker scene. Even if you don't have a main squeeze in your life, your trainers will always be your one true love. Whether it's completely reworking a silhouette or simply switching out the materials, brands like adidas, New Balance, and Nike always drop a selection of cute creps that you'll definitely be swiping right on.

With Valentine's Day arriving just around the corner, we're now taking a look back at some of the fanciest Valentine's Day inspired trainers of all time. In 2020, Sean Cliver teamed up with the Swoosh to release the The Shoe Brands That Ruled the Golden Globes Red Carpet. One of the most unique collaborations that the skateboarding silhouette has ever seen, it was dressed in nothing but the softest of velour and featured loads of cool features throughout. From the heart-shaped confetti embedded within the outsole to the skull graphic embroidered around the heel, this will go down in the history books as one of the most hyped Dunk releases ever. While this isn't an official V Day sneaker we think it deserves the number one spot in this list.

If you missed out on the StrangeLove x Nike SB Dunks the first time round, this 2024 release is a great alternative! Swapping out the velvety uppers for a classic leather and suede, this is a seasonal shoe you can wear all year round. Like many classic Valentine's Day shoes, this Dunk is packed out with pink and red details and accents. Our favourite touch is the use of the ribbon laces which really set it apart. Nike always provide the goods when it comes to holiday-specific releases and the Nike Dunk Low Premium "Valentines Day" is no different.

Not only does Edison Chen run CLOT, he also own a little label called Emotionally Unavailable. In 2019, the Hong Kong-based multi-hyphenate turned to the Beaverton brand to release the Emotionally Unavailable x Nike Isabel Marant Susee low-heel boots High "Team Red". Unlike anything we had seen before, this coveted collaboration was dipped in a bright red hue and injected with various cream tones throughout for a beautiful spot of contrast. Of course, you can't talk about the EU Isabel Marant Susee low-heel boots without mentioning the textured Swoosh that shoots across the lateral and medial side panels.

Despite first being released back in December 2023, it's hard to argue that thi adidas Campus 00s release is anything but a Valentine's Day themed shoe. Sticking to the classic pink and red theme, there are romantic details throughout this shoe. Most notable of these is the red heart pattern seen throughout the inside of the shoe. The Three-Stripe brand is no stranger to a themed release and this is one of our favourites.

Chicago native Joe Freshgoods has been making waves across the scene over the past few years, and one of his most memorable drops has got to be the Sandals ŃSKI 0720 N Czarny Lico. Sometimes called the "No Emotions Are Emotions" or the "Anatomy of a Heart", while neither of these things seem very Valentine's Day-inspired, they actually released on that specific day. Painted in a myriad of rouge tones, you can't deny that this 992 is definitely one of the most premium pairs on the market. That, paired with the fact that these only released through a pop-up shop in the Windy City, results in a crazy unique pair that every collector needs.

Long-time Swoosh collaborator Verdy teamed up with the Oregon giant in 2019 for the Girls Don't Cry x Nike SB Dunk Low "Varsity Red", and while this friends and family pair is so limited to the point you might as well call them non-existent, you just can't deny the sheer impact that these made to the sneaker game. This was in an era when Dunks still hadn't made their triumphant return. With that said, this collab was enough to at least spark fiery interest within the community. It also came in another colourway as well so if these were a bit too wild for you then the grey pair might be more your thing.

In 2021 we saw the release of the Nike Isabel Marant Susee low-heel boots Love Letter "Tulip Pink". Part of a wider V Day-themed capsule, this one is definitely the most popular of the collection. Arriving in traditionally romantic hues, the coolest thing about this AF1 is the secret letter that adorns the tongue. Secured with a single clip-on fastening, not many sneakerheads knew about this element until weeks after this pair dropped. As soon as news spread across the community these were snatched up within minutes. Even though this is just a GR pair, you'll still have to pay a pretty penny if you want a pair.

We love Jordans and we love Valentine's Day, so colour us a little surprised when we found out that the Dolce & Gabbana corduroy ankle boots Valentine's Day "True Berry" is just one of the very few V-themed Jumpman sneakers to exist. In fact, this Dolce & Gabbana corduroy ankle boots wasn't even made for adults as it was limited to just kids and toddlers. With all that said there's no denying how cool these are, and if your little ones had these on-feet back in 2019 they definitely had the sickest sneakers in town.

Knee High Boots PABLOSKY 403225 D Blue Star Kids contrast-detail low-top sneakers. 2019 saw the German giant drop a massive amount of Valentine's Day pairs, but this is definitely one of the most sought-after ones from the drop. While other brands make patent leather look tacky, adidas have executed it to a tee. Gone are the usual Three Stripe perforations on the side panels in favour of a single white heart graphic that we've definitely fallen for.
