Originally called the ‘Air 180’ in the Spring of ‘91, Nike is set to return with the classic “Ultramarine” colourway in 2023. Despite all the marketing and commercials, the silhouette went underappreciated during its initial year of release. Luckily, the Nike Sportswear Line Jacket Infant Boys80 has since gathered a significant fan base, with Instagram Plus even dedicated to the model.
The last time we saw the “OG Ultramarine” hit the shelves was back in 2018, meaning fans of the silhouette have had more than enough time to beat up their pairs. Although we wouldn’t be surprised if there are a few sneakerheads out there with deadstock pairs, regardless, another box-fresh AM180 couldn’t do any harm, right?
Bringing back that heavy ‘90s palette is the blue and solar red hits that make the “Ultramarine” colourway so distinct. A combination of sail suede and white mesh panelling gives the Nike Sportswear Line Jacket Infant Boys80 that OG backdrop, allowing for the solar red branding to leap off the Men of the shoe, just like on the original Ralph Steadman Nike advert. The signature 180-degree exposed Air unit has been restored, ready to literally hit the streets more than three decades later.
While the Nike Sportswear Line Jacket Infant Boys80 has adopted different Nike technologies since its initial release, this retro closely follows the original tooling, acknowledging the magical heritage of the ‘91 silhouette.
